Understanding the reality of expansion.
Whenever a being expands in awareness, their reality becomes more open to higher forms of information and subtle perceptions.
The science of quantum physics reveals that everything that exists is in constant motion—nothing is static. The significance of this discovery is that everything is energy; or in other words a flow of experience. Expansion is a movement towards greater perception. Avoidance of the unknown limits us to a tiny little patch of human existence labelled “what I already know”. This is a form of resistance that obstructs us from further growth and discovery. By shying away from that which is different, mysterious, uncomfortable, or the like we are blocking the gates of possibility.
How can we fully thrive when we are living a life based on a limited frame of reference? How can we live a life that is adventurous, crisp, and revelatory in a state of close-mindedness, inner stagnation, and rigidity? The short answer is… we can’t.
When you are consciously aware of the sensations in your body, the presence of your being, and open to what life is presenting, one is in touch with reality. Contrast this with being consumed by your mind’s drama, thinking frantically about the past, or anxiously about the future.
Do you see how expansive the first state is, and how narrow and contracted the latter is? Imagine how profound, fresh and liberating it would be to live a life in continual presence…
Practice offering: every morning, after you wake up, sit for 2-10 minutes and scan your body with awareness from top to bottom and bottom to top. Feel into the soles of your feet, the flesh of your thighs, the centre of your gut, the core of your heart, the balls of your eyes, the sensation of your bones; scan your whole body with sincere attention.
After you have done this to satisfaction place your attention in your belly centre which is located approximately four cm below your navel and five cm inside. Rest your attention here and bring it back every time your mind wanders. This is a simple yet powerful practice that will expand your consciousness, improve your concentration and root your sense of presence.
